I see you. You’re busy, running around to make good shit happen. You support yourself, your business, and your staff. You still find time to exercise and eat well. You’re dressed like the boss that you are, but sometimes feel like you’re running on fumes. I’m here to tell you that you can have your cake and eat it too. You can find balance as a small business owner.

I know I’m not the first to tell you that mindfulness is important, but I can’t stress how important it really is. Let me give you some easy ways to be more mindful and run a successful small business:

1. Expect imperfection.

Most of us successful business types are not interested in playing the game if we can’t be the best. You have to let that idea go. Now. You will never master mindfulness. Accept this fact and you’ve already made a mountain of progress. You’ll have periods where you turn your back on your mindfulness practices, and that’s OK! Everyone does. Just climb back on the wagon as soon as you can — and don’t beat yourself up for the fall.

2. Practice Pausing.

Personally, I’m a big advocate of a mindful morning. Take a few minutes to just breathe on purpose. To start, try setting a 3-minute timer and inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. For each breath, breath in for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7 seconds and exhale for 8 seconds. Do that for 3 minutes and over time you can build up from there. Longer, fuller breath cycles stimulate the relaxation response, which means you can physically set yourself up for more peace. Score! Let the idea of a pause permeate the rest of your day.

3. Savor!

Pausing does not have to center on the breath. An easy way to get mindful is to savor the world around you by using your senses! Again, start small and work your way up. For example, in the morning, you might take a moment to appreciate the heat of your coffee cup in your hands and the way that your coffee tastes/feel as you drink it. Instead of reading emails or the news while having breakfast, just have breakfast and appreciate your meal. Teach yourself to find and appreciate the small things.

4. Make and keep appointments with yourself.

This is a hard one because everything feels connected to you: your meetings, your budget, your family, your friends. In this case, though, I’m talking about YOU. Commit to spending time with yourself weekly. This might be one of the hardest things for you to do. An appointment with you can look a million different ways. Here are some ideas: Stay home and cook yourself something incredible. Take a long walk. Book a massage. Maybe it’s as simple as an early night to read a trashy novel or organize a part of your home. Intention matters here. Do the things that prioritize you. Do more of that. Every week.

5. Prioritize. Each day or week, make a list of the things that really matters.

(Include mindfulness!). Note what really needs your attention. Tackle that list so that you have time to come up for air and pause to savor more.

Keep coming back to #1. So many of my clients and students stop or don’t try because they can’t get into a consistent groove. You don’t have to be perfect or regular to reap major benefits from these practices. Let yourself be delightfully human. Let yourself fumble. Just keep coming back for that next big inhale. Keep coming back for that next beautiful pause because, yes, lots of us set resolutions at the start of the year, and these are great, but every moment allows us to reset if we choose. So, choose.

Before you recruit someone let them know what is required of them if they want to make money. Let them know that if they want to make a little money or a lot of money they will need to put in the work.

Let them know that people will make fun of them and tell them that they are involved in a scam or a pyramid scheme. People will tell them that they are wasting their time and they need to just keep working at their job. Ask them if they let the opinions of others dictate how they run their life or are you someone who makes your own decisions.

Don’t put your expectations on your prospects, find out why they want to accomplish and show them how to do it and leave them alone.

Do you often wonder the secret to becoming a millionaire? Is it by luck? Is it by chance? Were they born with a silver spoon in their mouth?

Have a definite dream. Visualize yourself already living your dream life.
You have to have a definite dream in mind or it would be very difficult to imagine it. Do you want a particular house, a fancy car, a traveling RV or perhaps it is paying off your current home and all your outstanding debts? If those things do not interest you it may be helping the homeless, feeding the hungry, donating to a great cause, putting your children or grandchildren through college, spending quality time with your family.

You can use your visualization to become what you want to be. The person you were meant to be!

By expecting and visualizing bad things happening to you, those things begin to become reality.

Understand how wealth is created. Do you sit back and hope people will come to you wanting your products or services? OR…

Do you have a system in place to ensure your success IF you plug-in and work your tail off?

Last week you got 1 person in your business whether customer or distributor. How did you do it?

No employees, The accounting is all done for me, I do not have to carry a bunch of product for resale, I do not even have to handle the money.

Consistently learn from other successful people.

That is outstanding, but think what good you can do with more money…more freedom. What could you do with even an extra $1000.00 a month?

For me, that made a huge difference. I am able to spend quality time with my family. Play with my grandchildren whenever I want. Buy a stranger’s meal just because. What would you do?

Always attend to important tasks.

Great wealth may be just outside your comfort zone. Just ‘DO IT!’

Help others get successful too.

Work hard now so later on in life you do not have to work hard.

This week Eric teaches us how to move past the slow summer months to create and keep momentum in your Network Marketing business. As Eric has told us before, there are two types of people in network marketing, the Amateurs, and the Professionals. During slow summer months, the amateurs say, “Well, all my distributors or all my prospects are busy. People are doing family time. People are going on vacation. People are distracted. People don’t want to look at the opportunity. People aren’t in a business mindset. Since they’re all busy, I’m gonna go on vacation.” The Professional makes the decision to get market share, to take advantage of the opportunities left lying on the table by all of the other distributors who have chosen to take the summer off, and they get a larger “slice of the pie.” So instead of accepting the excuses that no one’s ready to look at the opportunity, remember there’s a lot of people who can ‘t afford vacations, and might be desperately praying for an opportunity.

This summer you could find yourself you’re sitting in a situation where you have a choice; to either accept the limiting beliefs that now is not a good time to build, or use this as an opportunity to step in and get some market share. Eric further gives us strategies on how to get your market share and to get your team excited and on board with you also. The first is come up with a campaign or a recruiting blitz such as holding one home meeting a week or go on a 10-day recruiting blitz or a weekend blitz.

Eric suggests that you come up with a campaign now, write it down, and get a strong vision and game plan around it. Do not have a lost summer, use it for growth and momentum.

Million Dollar Interview with Clive Leach and Diana Ross

 

In this week’s Million Dollar Interview, Eric interviews power Network Marketing couple Clive Leach and Diana Ross. They are from the UK and also have a home in Florida. They are number 2 in their company and have over 178,000 thousand customers in their organization and throughout their career in Network Marketing, they have earned over 14 million in commissions. Diana is a master promoter and Clive is an amazing trainer, and together they have built an empire which has forever changed their family’s future and contributed greatly to countless others.

However, things were not always this bright in their lives and with their financial security. Diana tells us of being a young girl of only 11, and her parents had just split from a bad marriage, and she and her mom were broke and struggling very hard. When she became old enough to work at the age of 14, Diana went on a crusade to find a job. After many No’s, she finally got a Yes and found a job so she could help contribute to the struggling household. By the time Diana had finished her primary education, she was offered a place at the university, but she turned it down. Diana wanted to get married and have a family. When she was 22 years old she had her first son, and then her second son followed 5 years later, however, she was still struggling to make ends meet, and she was working all kinds of part-time jobs to provide for her children. She knew there had to be a better way, but she didn’t know what that was. It wasn’t until she lost twins, which were born premature and only survived 24 hours, that she realized how short life could be, and a sense of urgency to find a better way took hold of her.
Clive’s story is a bit different, he was raised by both parents in the middle-class household and was educated at good school, and then went to work in the textile trade. While on a business trip to America he encountered two American gentlemen who showed him the power of leverage and he was blown away. He went back to the U.K. and a network marketing opportunity came along and he joined. That was in 1986, and he has been growing, building, and learning ever since.

Once Diana made the decision to join a network marketing company, she went all in with her recruiting efforts and was quite successful at it, however, she still didn’t understand the concept of duplication. It wasn’t until her upline held a home meeting and Clive came to give a training on duplication that she understood the leverage. This was also the meeting where Clive and Diana first met and fell in love…and a powerful force united. Diana was amazing at promoting and Clive was the master of training and leadership, and a union of the both was destined to be great.

Diana and Clive have been in Network Marketing for over 25 years, and they went through a couple of different network marketing companies before they found the company they are currently with and have been with for the past 19 years.

When asked why Network Marketing for all of these years, they both agreed at first it was for financial reasons, but as time passed and financial goals were met and they were making residual income, it became about contribution to others. To help others live their dreams and meet their goals.

Clive and Diana give this advice to anyone just starting out or currently building: “Think about where you are in life right now, and then think about where you would like to be? What does that look like? What does this provide for you and your family? What do you drive? Where do you live? Where do you travel?” “Write it all down in a journal and keep it with you every day, because, on this journey that you’re going to go on, things are going to get tough sometimes. Sometimes things don’t always work out, but you open that up, and you look at what you’ve written down, and that will help you get through those tough times. “
